Internal
2026
The gaze turns inward. Here, the body becomes both subject and witness, looking at itself rather than being looked at. Hands cradle the face. Eyes are closed. The figure withdraws from the external world into the private space of her own interiority.
What happens when we stop looking outward and turn our attention inward? Internal suggests that there is a kind of conversation happening between the body and itself, a private dialogue that requires no witness, no external gaze. She is alone with herself, and there is a completeness in this solitude.
The threads here become a kind of boundary, a way of marking the space between the inner life and the outer world. To look at this figure is to recognize that some depths are not meant to be shared, some moments are not meant to be observed. There is sovereignty in this turning away.
Yet there remains a paradox: in the act of making this inward gaze visible, we are invited to witness the unwittness-able. We see the figure in her privacy, even as her posture suggests she wishes to be unseen.
Internal speaks to the sacred space within, the self that belongs only to itself. To look at her is to understand that presence takes many forms, and that withdrawal is sometimes a form of power.
